Precipitation data:
Entry: 3/31/95
1914 - 1952    Data entered by Jornada LTER was obtained from
               hardcopy NOAA climate data located in NMSU Branson
               Library (C30.18/27:...and C55.214/28:...).
1953 - 1989    Data entered by Jornada LTER was obtained from
               file on diskette sent by NOAA at Beltsville, MD.
1990 - 1993    Data entered by Jornada LTER was obtained from
               hardcopy NOAA climate date located in NMSU Branson
               Library (C30.18/27:...and C55.214/28:...).
Entry: 4/5/95
Precipitation data problem
   Data entered obtained from hardcopy NOAA climate data located
   in NMSU Branson Library (C30.18/27:...and C55.214/28:...) was
   found to have missing months of precipitation.  From 1914 - 1953
   a decimal point was used for any date where there was either no
   rain OR if the data was missing.  For these years, NOAA made no
   delination between missing data and a day where it didn't rain.
   Copies of original field data sheets were located in 2 blue 3-ring
   binders for years 1914 - 1954 and the following corrections were
   made:

     Jul 1914   NOAA  total = 0        actual total = 2.99"
     May 1916   NOAA  total = 0        actual total = 1.45"
     Aug 1916   NOAA  total = 0        actual total = 0.96"
     Jun 1917   NOAA  total = 0        actual total = 0.05"
     Nov 1917   NOAA  total = 0        actual total = 0.16"
     Jun 1923   NOAA  total = 0        actual total = 0.65"
     Sep 1923   NOAA  total = 0        actual total = 1.74"
     Aug 1929   NOAA  total = 0        actual total = 2.73"
     Jun 1943   NOAA  total = 0        actual total = 1.56"
     Oct 1944   NOAA  total = 0        actual total = 1.11"
     Aug 1946   NOAA  total = 0        actual total = 2.99"
     Jul 1948   NOAA data missing      actual total = 0.57"
     Sep 1948   NOAA data missing      actual total = 0.44"
     Oct 1948   NOAA data missing      actual total = 0.84"
     26 Jan 1949  NOAA data missing    actual day total = 0.53"
                                       => Jan 1949 total = 1.57"

Entry: 4/5/95
Precipitation data problem
   The following  dates had data entry mistakes IN THE NOAA
   climate date located in NMSU Branson Library which were corrected
   this date.
         20 Aug 1922  Bad value = 0.51"     Correct value = 0.57"
         28 Jul 1923  Bad value = 0.08"     Correct value = 0.05"
         19 Jul 1928  Bad value = 0.56"     Correct value = 0.57"
         25 Nov 1931  Bad value = 0.03"     Correct value = 0.08"
   The following date was a data entry mistake by Jornada LTER
   and was corrected this date.
         22 Oct 1932  Correct value = 0.21

Entry: 4/6/95
Precipitation data problem
   6/30/42  Total in original records was  recorded as = 0".
            However, original record also shows rain event on
            6/30/42 = 0.80" lasting from 6pm-930pm.   Original
            records that 0.80 was carried forward to 7/1/42 and
            included in that month's data.  Perhaps record
            reflects only 6pm-6pm as being a day of record.
   1/8/49  Data entry error. Bad value = 0.38"  Correct value  =  0"

Entry: 3/31/95
1914  - 1947  Data entered was obtained from photocopy of microfiche
              from NOAA at Beltsville, MD.
1948 - 1953   Data entered was obtained from hardcopy NOAA climate
              date located in NMSU Branson Library (C30.18/27:...and
              55.214/28:...).

Temperature data:
Entry: 4/5/95
   Minimum temperatures for November 1921 are inaccurate as per
   original field data sheet.  Values in data set replaced with -99
   this date.
