Irrigating the desert

The irrigation system consists of 1000 m of PVC piping, ball valves and sprinklers.

We drive a water truck to the exclosures after it rains to add 50% and 80% water to the target plots.

Installing the rainout shelters- November 2006

With the LTER's crew help, we successfully installed 48 rainout shelters.

The First one! A prototype of the rainout shelter

Friday, October 20th.
It was around 6.30 pm when we put together the first rainout shelter.

The bending process

We needed to bend 700 acrylic bands for the rainout helters.
The bands are 2.5m long, and we had to bend 700.
